Ellie says, "Tarangire Safari Lodge holds a special place in my heart as the first place I stayed on my first safari over 20 years ago -  the view quite simply took my breath away and continues to do so every time I revisit this favorite of mine. It may not be as luxurious as some other camps in Tarangire but it offers simple accomodation at a very reasonable rate and very few high end camps can offer the views from your simple tent verandah that this lodge does."

Recommended for all who like simple, value for money and great views

Tarangire Treetops

Each large bedroom boasts an exotic double shower en suite bathroom. With furnishings that create warmth and demonstrate a commitment to local craftsmanship, the ‘up-in-the-air’ experience is completed by the open-fronted room design affording views across the Tarangire plains from an expansive but private balcony.

A wonderful place from which to explore Tarangire and then enjoy a lantern-lit dinner in a traditional Boma echoing to the sounds of Maasai chants, or eating poolside by candlelight whilst a wealth of wildlife comes to drink at the Lodge water hole

Oliver's Camp - Tarangire National Park

****

Tucked away in the remote southern reaches of Tarangire National Park – Oliver's has just 10 beautifully appointed safari tents in a spectacular location close to the game-dense Silale Swamps and overlooking a flood plain of the Minyonyo Pools. Oliver’s was inspired by the trailblazing camps that pioneered the early days of safari. It is a wonderful location for game drives well as offering walking safaris, fly camping and night game drives. The en-suite safari tents epitomise bush elegance in a spectacular setting: red leather armchairs match the ochre soils beyond the canvas walls, and headboards are hand-carved from African mahogany. All suites come complete with flushing toilets and spacious outdoor showers, and each private veranda has magnificent views of the horizon punctuated by the silhouettes of the ever-present baobab trees. In the main area, deep leather sofas invite you to relax and watch the restless wilderness beyond. Come nightfall, meals are taken communally in the dining room. Whiskies are poured around the campfire and safari tales told late into the night.

Activities: game drives, walking, night game drives, fly camping

Ellie says, "Quintessential bush luxury; Oliver's camp is renowned in the business as a top-class camp                    and never fails to deliver a wonderful safari experience"
